Memorial Day Gratitude

First two quotes: “We must dare to be great; and we must realize that greatness is the fruit of toil, sacrifice and high courage.” — Theodore Roosevelt.

And, a bonus quote this week: “Feeling gratitude, and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” — William Arthur Ward

Upon reflection, I’m often embarrassed about just how much I (and others) take for granted living in this great country. While certainly a long way from perfect, and with countless problems and challenges still to be addressed, there is no other place I would rather call home.

I’m feeling deeply grateful on this Memorial Day weekend for so many things, and for so many people. Certainly at the top of the list are the countless heroes who have paid the ultimate price defending freedom and democracy for so many decades. I’m also grateful for those continuing to defend our country, our freedom and our values both here and abroad. May all of those people, and their families, feel loved and appreciated not only on this Memorial Day… but always.

I hope your holiday weekend is/was safe, wonderful and perhaps, a tad reflective in your own meaningful way.

Be your best self this week! Have a great week!
